"wherever we go..." so goes Molly!

As I mentioned in my last post, one of the things I like about "Birchwood Resort" in Lupton is the fact that they welcome pets. You'd be surprised at the number of cabins in Northern Michigan that I've come across which don't share this policy. I can understand that, though since not everyone is a dog owner or dog lover. But for those of us who do own and love dogs, they're often thought of as part of the family when it comes to travel plans. We have a lab. Labs love water. Molly has had her share of stays in a kennel near our home but when we head north, it just doesn't seem fair to leave her behind. Did I mention labs love water? I can imagine the scenario we'd encounter when we returned home if we didn't take Molly with us on our lakeside jaunts. Sitting at the kitchen table thinking back aloud on all the fun we just had, splashing in the shallows...and Molly glaring at us as if to say, "Dude! I can hear you! Can you not relive it all in my presence?"

Birchwood Resort was a virtual recreational candyland for Molly. She ran after a tennis ball in the water. She ran after...well, nothing in the water, but just ran in the water because she could. She studied the fish swimming not so very far away off the end of the dock. She took long walks down a path that must have had a hundred smells that suited her fancy because she appeared to be in seventh heaven!

And at night, she curled up inside the cabin right in front of the fire, exhausted and seemingly happy just to be with us and not in a kennel. I'm forever grateful for the those places which exist that welcome with open arms, the family pet.
